Laxatives Save Lives

When a person has liver failure (for whatever reason), the use of laxatives, such as Cephulac, promotes the excretion of ammonia, which can stave off hepatic encephalopathy (leads to coma).  Cephulac traps the ammonia in the intestines, and promotes bowel movements to expel it.
